Event #6 – $340 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Event



The $340 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack event resumed its second day with 20 players returning for the final table. It didn’t take long for action to grow intense.

The first knock out came when Jeff Charlton from Lake Worth, Fla., moved all in after John Bates made the initial raise. Bates wasted no time calling and tabling pocket 10’s, which was in front of Charlton’s A-9. The flop was all that was needed when a 10 appeared in the window and Jeff Charlton was sent packing in 9^th place, earning $1,805.

Even though we didn’t get the breakdown of the hand, our 8^th place finisher was John Bates.

Action would later move to Eddie Rayl, who made a raise from the button. Our last lady standing, Faith Klumczak, moved all-in with her pocket 10’s. Rayl made the crying call with Q-J and we were off to the races. This race, however, would end on a flop of 8-Q-4. The turn and river were also 4’s and the queens full were enough to send Klumczak home finishing 7^th. For her efforts, Faith earned $3,810.

Eddie Rayl wasn’t done dispatching players. He made a small blind raise to 200k with A-Q and saw Rogelio Salinas move in for another 120k. Rayl called and saw the bad news. Rogelio held A-K and was in a dominant lead. But, like before, the Q on the flop thrust Rayl into the lead and he would not give up his high ground. Rogelio Salinas finished the day in 6^th place, earning $4,812.

As if it weren’t repetitive enough, Michael Burrow would get tangled up with Eddie Rayl just a few hands later. Burrow was all-in with A-10 versus the Q-J of Rayl. The flop was K-2-3 and the ace high was still ahead. The turn was a queen and the river was a 4. The Q-J of Rayl ended the day for Michael Burrow, who finished in 5^th place, earning $7,081.

The end was drawing near for William Payne. He finally made his stand with A-3 of hearts against the pocket 5’s of Timothy Morgan. The flop gave hope to Payne when the 6h-Kh-9s dropped, giving him a flush draw. The turn was the 2c and the river was a red K, but it was a heart! The 5’s of Morgan held, which meant that William Payne was out in 4^th place, earning $8,302.

After a tug of war between the three remaining players, David Cox would push his stack in holding pocket 4’s. Eddie Rayl would call him down, holding K-8 of spades. The king on the flop meant that Cox would need one of the last two fours to catch up. The much needed help didn’t arrive and David Cox was done for the day in 3^rd place, earning $10,743.

It only took 3 hands for the heads-up to finish. Eddie Rayl made a raise to 70k that was met by a re-raise of Tim Morgan. Rayl would call and they would see a flop of 9-2-J. Both players would check and the turn was an 8. This time both players would get all their chips in the middle with Tim being the all-in player. He surprised Rayl with pocket A’s, but soon learned the bad news that Rayl had turned a straight with Q-10. The river was a useless 4 and Tim Morgan was done in 2^nd place, earning $18,313. Our champion in this event is Eddie Rayl who took down the trophy, the main event seat, and $32,956!
