JOHN DOLAN WINS BEAU RIVAGE’S 2012 MILLION DOLLAR HEATER REGIONAL POKER SERIES SHOOT OUT

Regional Poker Series Shootout Comes to a Close with a “Stacked” Final Table

BILOXI, Miss. – Jan. 26, 2012 – The final table of Beau Rivage’s Million Dollar Heater Regional Poker Tournament came to an exciting end last night with home town poker pro and former November Niner John Dolan walking away with the trophy, the bracelet and $336,105 in cash. The final table started at 2 p.m. and did not end until nearly 11 p.m. last night as most players had deep stacks with the new structures introduced for this event. Dolan came into the final table as the chip leader, and he had to fade a stacked final table that included WPT Champion Randal Flowers, WSOP bracelet winner Ryan Welch and Lock Poker Pro Matt Stout. Rounding out the field were a few unknown players and online poker pro Glenn Poole, who scored his first big live score and banked $185,367 for the runner-up finish. Action started early with the short stack at the table, Flowers making lots of moves trying to get some chips. He shoved in one too many times though and Kirill Kruglov wakes up with Ace-King offsuit and proceeds to not hit an Ace or a King on flop, but both for 2 pair. Flowers heads to the cage to collect $20,730.

Habib Jahangard is the next to hit the rail when on a 10-c-6h-5d flop, Jahangard three-bet (re-raise) shoves his pocket Jacks at Ryan Welch, and Welch snap calls with bottom 2 pair where he started the hand with 5-6s. Jahangard puts the unlit Swisher Sweet back in his pocket and collects $30,555. Next out went one of the local grinders from the Gulf Coast area of Florida, Dan Clemente, when he open shoved a short stack of about 12 big blinds to get “All in Pre-Flop” (AIPF) with A-3o, and Kruglov makes an easy call with 10-10. Clemente bricks out the board and heads back to Florida with $40,740.

The next bust out hand was by far the most interesting as Welch raised pre-flop and got three bet by Matt Stout to which Welch flat calls and they go to the flop. Flop hits the board gin for Welch with 2h4h5h and he bets and Stout calls. The 4d on the turn and they get it all in. Matt Stout heads home with a cool $50,925 after tabling two black aces and he can’t get anywhere with them.

2012MILLION DOLLAR HEATER The winner of the event takes out the next four opponents on his way to the win. John Dolan knocks out Welch after he got short stacked and open shipped with KQo and Dolan calls him with A-6o and wins the pot. Welch heads back to Las Vegas with $61,110. Next out was Orlando, Florida’s Mark Rose who always plays well at the Beau. Mark Rose open shoves about 9-10 big blinds with Q-10o and Dolan wakes up with 10-10 (tens). Mark can’t even pick up a sweat. Mark Rose out in 4th place at pockets $81,480. Dolan works a little magic against the last two players left as he gets it in bad against both, but somehow gets there in both spots. First was against Kruglov when Dolan called his shove with K-J only to see the Russian table Q-Q. Dolan hits a King on the flop. Next against the second place finisher Glenn Poole when they get it AIPF with Dolan holding 9-9 and Poole holding 10-10. Dolan strikes with a 9 on the turn and takes home the Championship.

Congratulations to Kiril Kruglov for winning $101,850 for third place and Glenn Poole for winning $185,367 for second place.

Congratulations to local poker pro John Dolan who is the Million Dollar Heater Main Event Champion and winner of $336,105. Dolan lives in Biloxi with his girlfriend and 2 ½ month old baby, who watched him win.

After hosting 30 preliminary events and multiple satellite tournaments, the Million Dollar Heater reached nearly 6,000 players in attendance and awarded more than $1.7 Million in prize money and Main event entries.

The Million Dollar Heater championship event of the series featured two starting days and a guaranteed prize pool of $1 Million. The tournament had a decidedly Southern feel, with many of the 210 entries coming from high profile tournament players from the south. Several major tournament winners from recent years were in attendance, including WPT Champions Randall Flowers, Jonathan Little and Joe Tehan, as well as the champion from last year’s Beau Rivage Southern Poker Championship, Alexander Kuzmin. Other notable players included Josh Arieh, John Dolan, Shannon Shorr, Matt Stout and Ryan Tepen.

Recent winners from MGM Resorts Mississippi properties included Tyler Smith, who has multiple wins and final tables at Beau Rivage and Gold Strike 2011 Gold Strike World Poker Open Champion David Diaz, the 2010 World Poker Open Champion Jeremy Gaubert, and the 2011 Gulf Coast Poker Championship winner Ali Alawadhi .
